My First Laptop - Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro16

This is the first laptop of my life; its appearance and portability match my preferences.

Personal Impressions

First, the seller included a keyboard cover, mouse, mouse pad, and carrying bag, so I basically don't need to buy extra peripherals. I'm very satisfied with the keyboard (it's a membrane keyboard; I don't ask for much—low noise is enough). The full-size keyboard is very comfortable.

Fn Key

Fn+Q switches modes; this design language is very creative. Fn+Esc switches between function key mode and F-key mode, providing a very comfortable experience. There's also Fn+Space to toggle the keyboard backlight (very comfortable in low light). You could say the Fn key is a highlight of Lenovo's design language. It achieves a comfortable switch between convenient laptop functions and the normal functions of a full-size keyboard.

Fans

I have to say, the AMD Ryzen 7-5800H is powerful—AMD, yes. Dual-fan cooling is definitely much better than single-fan cooling. During light daily use the fans barely spin or run at low speeds. You can hardly hear the fans; the fan noise is relatively small, much less than gaming laptops. I have audio files of the fan noise under full load for the Dell G15 and the Xiaoxin Pro16 Ryzen version; you can listen to them.

Display

The 2K screen looks really great—it's impossible for me to use a 1080P screen now (everything would be blurry). Some software may still appear blurry; you can enable Windows' scaling compatibility fixes or AMD's built-in scaling to adjust things.

Ports

I mentioned the Pro16's ports above; in daily use these ports are basically enough. If you need to connect an Ethernet cable, you'll have to buy a dock with an Ethernet port, but WiFi is sufficient—if you don't play games, you won't need it.

Battery Life

With a 95W charging power it takes about 90 minutes to fully charge. In performance mode, battery life is around 8 hours (actual battery life depends on personal usage). I have to say, for a Windows laptop this battery life is already quite good.

Cons

The RAM chips are soldered onto the board; unless you have the skills, I don't recommend replacing the memory.

There is only one drive interface, so you can only replace the drive.

Performance isn't fully unleashed.

Conclusion

No matter how it turns out, this will be the laptop that accompanies me through four years of university. I can only say that it feels very comfortable to use. AMD, yes.
